Purple Sunday

The color purple holds profound significance in the Bible, symbolizing royalty, wealth, and spiritual authority. In biblical times, purple dye was rare and expensive, often reserved for kings, priests, and nobles. Purple garments were worn by royalty, reflecting honor and majesty, as seen when King David and King Solomon adorned themselves in purple.

Purple also signifies God's sovereignty and the divine nature of Jesus Christ as King of Kings. In the New Testament, purple is associated with Jesus' passion and crucifixion; the Roman soldiers clothed Him in a purple robe to mock His claim to kingship, yet it paradoxically affirmed His royal identity.

Additionally, purple represents repentance and mourning in some biblical contexts, highlighting the depth of human humility before God's majesty. Overall, purple's biblical meaning encompasses themes of power, dignity, suffering, and divine authority, reminding believers of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice and his exalted position in God’s Kingdom.
